Upside Down Influencer
How do we navigate social media as a Christ follower? How should we approach trends, present ourselves, comment on cultural moments, or even view cancel culture through a biblical lens? These are questions I longed to have answered, but found few resources that could help. That’s why I started upside down influencer: to spark these conversations, provide biblical guidance, and leave space for believers to develop their own convictions. You’re an influencer. For an upside down Kingdom. Will you join me?

What does it look like to discern rightly when it comes to what we post on social media? How do we know what’s wise, what’s beneficial, and what simply might not be for us to post? Let’s talk about it. I also chat about the oversimplification of what we see online and why we need to be careful about looking at someone’s post and immediately telling other Christians to “stop acting like Pharisees.” Lastly, I share some thoughts on a few recent conversations happening in Christian social media culture. My prayer is that this episode can help us think a littleeee bit deeper about how we show up online. Get connected with me! How do we raise our kids (teens) in a social media world? That’s a big part of why I started this podcast but also - I’m not quitttte in that season. So I asked a parent who I believe did it really well. They made mistakes along the way, stayed rooted in the Lord, and now they have two young adults who have a healthy relationship with social media. I mean, that’s the goal right?
I am a huge advocate for using social media but I am also aware that it comes with real dangers. We talk about mistakes they made, the rules they put in place, how they stayed committed despite conflict with their kids and ultimately, how to teach our kids to rightfully discern.

What if you never went viral? What if you faithfully created content for FIVE YEARS and it never grew the way you hoped? What if your friend’s podcast “took off” and yours stayed small? Even though you started at the same time? Would you wonder if you heard God wrong? If He’s the one who called you to create, what do you do when the results never come? That’s exactly what we’re talking about in this episode. I’m so honored to sit down with Hannah Hughes, who has walked this road firsthand and is still consistently walking in obedience every day. Hannah is wise beyond her years, and I learned so much from her. I can’t wait for you to hear what she has to say.

I’ve been thinking a lot about what it looks like to pursue social media wholeheartedly without slowly compromising the convictions God has placed on my heart. In this episode, I’m opening up about my interest in stepping into UGC, the tension I feel around making a living online, and thequestions I’m asking as a Christ follower who also feels called to go full throttle with social media. I apologize for the short episode this week, I do this all myself and it was a rough week with the kids on top of an already busy schedule! I appreciate you all and your support as I navigate this! Hopefully some changes are coming in the future that can lighten my load.

AI is rapidly changing the world. And just like social media, it’s a tool. But as Christians, we also know that the enemy loves to distort and misuse things that were meant to serve people. In this episode, Jessica sits down with Dale Wallace, creator of Ask LYTE, a Christian AI platform. They talk about how people are ACTUALLY using AI, some of the dangers hiding beneath the surface, and what Dale is doing about it with Ask LYTE.This conversation will open your eyes as to WHY it’s so important to use an AI with a Biblical worldview. Share this episode and spread the word. Dale is building something worth paying attention to.
