Upside Down Influencer

How do we navigate social media as a Christ follower? How should we approach trends, present ourselves, comment on cultural moments, or even view cancel culture through a biblical lens? These are questions I longed to have answered, but found few resources that could help. That’s why I started upside down influencer: to spark these conversations, provide biblical guidance, and leave space for believers to develop their own convictions. You’re an influencer. For an upside down Kingdom. Will you join me?

I’ve been thinking a lot about what it looks like to pursue social media wholeheartedly without slowly compromising the convictions God has placed on my heart. In this episode, I’m opening up about my interest in stepping into UGC, the tension I feel around making a living online, and thequestions I’m asking as a Christ follower who also feels called to go full throttle with social media. I apologize for the short episode this week, I do this all myself and it was a rough week with the kids on top of an already busy schedule! I appreciate you all and your support as I navigate this! Hopefully some changes are coming in the future that can lighten my load.

What happens when new believers suddenly have big platforms? In this episode, Jessica sits down with Pastor Ryan Britt to explore that very tension. As more people come to faith online, they’re often looked to as spiritual authorities before they’ve had the chance to truly become rooted. So how should they navigate that? And how should the Church respond without elevating them too quickly or tearing them down?Together, Jessica and Pastor Britt unpack the weight of influence, the challenge of sanctification in the public eye, and what it really looks like to extend grace in a culture that’s quick to critique.Plus, in a world shaped by AI, they explore what authenticity can look like for a follower of Jesus and why it matters more than ever.To get connected with other upside down influencers and follow along with us, you can find us on:

It's easy to believe our “weaknesses” disqualify us from influence. We look at others online and count ourselves out. In this episode, Jessica sits down with Joshua Delp, whose story challenges that lie. Josh leads, teaches and speaks while living with a stutter that once made him question whether he could ever speak or lead publicly. They talk honestly about fear, obedience, and learning to trust God when confidence feels out of reach. Joshua shares how God has met him not in spite of his “weakness”, but through it. And how that dependence has shaped his leadership, ministry, and willingness to show up in a world that may otherwise discourage him in what he feels called to do.If you’ve ever felt overlooked, unqualified, or tempted to stay silent because you don’t measure up, you’re going to want to listen in. God isn’t looking for flawless people. He’s looking for willing ones.

Can someone actually be called to be a social media influencer? And what if your calling doesn’t fit neatly inside a church building, even though you feel like it should? In this episode, Jessica sits down with Kadi Cole, a seasoned leadership coach and ministry leader with experience spanning both church and secular spaces. Together, they challenge the assumption that ministry only happens on a stage or behind a pulpit. Spoiler, it doesn't!They explore whether social media influence can be a legitimate expression of calling, how to prepare your heart before a platform grows, and why understanding the difference between primary calling and secondary calling reshapes how leaders show up online. Kadi also speaks into the often-hard waiting seasons…when God has called you, but the clarity, role, or next step hasn’t yet been revealed. This episode is for Christ followers who feel a pull toward ministry and “influence” whatever form that may take. AND want to pursue it with integrity, humility, and deep dependence on God.

How do you know if the Holy Spirit is prompting you to post… or if it’s just you? Or what about when something online just seems a littleee off, but you're not sure why? How do we discern these things? In this episode, Jessica talks with Dr. Adam Flynt about discernment in the digital age. Why believers may feel convicted about different things and how to avoid confusing conviction with comparison
How to grow sensitivity to the Spirit’s voice and learn His tone
What it would look like to view social media as a mission field
